If you’re looking to improve credit history you’ll see that there are many ways to raise a credit score. If what you need is to have derogatory history removed. It’s a very different ball game. Improving credit is more manipulation of credit to produce a higher score. To improve credit history you’ll have to do some repairing.

The single most useful tip I used from a credit repair manual I purchased was the re-aging violations technique it talked about. Frankly, I thought the manual was just ok not great. Until I got to the part of the manual that talked about re-aging of debt and how it’s a violation of our rights. The reason that popped up at me is that I had been reviewing my credit report and I saw what I thought were duplicates. I thought they were duplicates because the amounts were identical or just a few dollars off and the dates didn’t match. I learned that those discrepancies on my report were violations; the collections companies were violating my rights. Let me explain.

When you fall behind on an account, its considered bad 30 days after the missed payment. That’s when it should be reporting as negative. That date is also the marker for the statute of limitations. When a collection company picks up an account and puts in a new date it extends the statute of limitations. That’s the violation. Not rocket science here, it’s simply having some understanding of how this law works.

You improve credit history by disputing under the grounds that the company is violating your rights and demand that they remove, not correct the account from your credit history. Thus, improving credit history! Now that was easy right? But wait don’t celebrate yet! What if they say no? What do you do then? That’s the real value I took from my credit manual. It also told me how to extend the dispute and find another way to have them delete the account.

From here you can dispute the account based on a couple of different options. You can ask they prove you owe the account or that they can actually collect from you. They have all their licensing in order, etc. I won’t go into to much detail, in a short article. Simply said, there’s more to dispute when the door gets closed. Hope this help.

Credit repair techniques change. Using the most current techniques to dispute correctly has worked well for me. I understand my credit now and strongly recommend consumers understand this critical aspect of their financial life. There’s a lot of information out there. Below is what helped me the most.
