Of course you have to have access to your credit reports and credit scores in order to begin the process. Many people don’t realize this but you can get written credit reports from all three major credit bureaus through the mail once per year absolutely free. Use this to your advantage if you’re cash poor right now. If you have a couple of extra bucks I highly suggest that you invest in a credit monitoring service which offers free access to you credit reports. This way you can watch as your credit score improves and make sure that it does not dip. Take care of any problems right away and you will avoid any long term headaches. You need to fully understand why having a good credit score is such an important factor in their financial life. Once you do, you’ll buckle down and prioritize, improving your credit. Having good credit saves you huge amounts of money through lower interest rates any time you borrow money for anything. Over many years the amount of money saved is generally in the thousands of dollars. Even fractions of a percentage on an interest rate mean big bucks. It pays to have excellent credit.
